How to get Lich in Grow a Garden

The Lich is a pet in Grow a Garden that can be acquired by using the Lich Crystal.

Both the Lich and the Lich Crystal were released as part of the Harvest Reaper event. And while you may be on a quest to collect all of the pets in Grow a Garden, its trait is no doubt going to be one many players want.

Since getting ahold of the Lich is a somewhat extensive task, we’ll be running through how to get the Lich, how to complete the Lich Crystal riddles, and the Lich traits.

On this page:

How to get the Lich

To get the Lich, you’ll need to get hold of a Lich Crystal from the Ghosty Gadgets stall in the Spooky Market, and use it to reveal various riddles that will lead you to acquiring the Lich pet.

The process of acquiring the Lich appears more involved than most other pets, and not just that, but you’ll need a bit of luck too. This is because you’ll need to acquire various pets and items that are chance-based drops from several sources, before following a series of riddles.

As a heads up, there may be additional details as to how you acquire the Lich that have yet to be discovered. As such, we’ll be sure to update this page with any extra info that may come to light.

Here are the pets and items you’ll need to get started on acquiring the Lich pet:

  • Lich Crystal (from Ghosty Gadgets gear stall)
  • Bat (from Spooky Egg)
  • Crow (from Gravedigger mini game)
  • Scarab (from Spooky Crate)
  • Spell Book (from Devilish Decor cosmetic stall)
  • Halloween Candles (Spooky Crate)

How to complete the Lich Crystal riddles

Once you’ve acquired all of these, it’s time to run through the riddles – make sure there are no animals in your garden, and then trigger the first riddle by interacting with your Lich crystal. Once each step is complete, use the Lich Crystal again to trigger the next riddle.

As it stands, this full list of riddles is all you need to acquire the Lich, but as mentioned earlier, we’ll be sure to update should there be anything else you need to know.

Here is our in-progress runthrough of all the Lich Crystal riddles:

Riddle 1: Blind creature of the night

‘The crystal hums faintly… perhaps a blind creature of the night could power the crystal’.

This requires you to place the Bat (acquired from the Spooky Egg) in your garden.

Riddle 2: A dark-winged carrion

‘The crystal whispers… the crystal yearns for something clever – a dark-winged carrion’.

This is referring to the Crow (found via the Gravedigger mini game), so it’s time to place them into your garden.

Riddle 3: Something ancient, of rebirth must crawl

‘The crystal stirs… something ancient is missing – something of rebirth must crawl’.

Place the Scarab (from the Spooky Chest) in your garden.

Riddle 4: An ancient book of spells

‘The crystal murmurs in a language unknown… perhaps an ancient book of spells could decipher its secrets’.

You’ll now need to place the Spellbook cosmetic (from the Develish Decor cosmetic stall) in your garden.

Riddle 5: Two candles to pierce the veil between worlds

‘Flickers of embers are missing… the crystal yearns two candles to pierce the veil between worlds.’

This is the final riddle, and to complete it, you’ll need to place two Halloween Candles (from the Spooky Crate) in your garden.

If anything else emerges on any additional aspect of this we haven’t covered, we’ll be sure to update the page with further details.

Lich traits

Whilst it also has yet to be confirmed, the Lich’s trait covers a few different aspects, boosting the stats of Spooky-type plants, and buffing nearby Halloween-type pets.

For any Spooky-type plant within 32 studs, they’ll receive a 0.66x multiplier on their variant chance, as well as 1.53x and 0.48x multipliers on their growth speed and size bonus respectively.
