Well, it’s been just over a week since the launch of Ghost of Yotei — one of the most anticipated titles of 2025 for us here in the PlayStation Nation (sorry, we really need to stop writing that).
A sequel to the beloved Ghost of Tsushima, Yotei is set hundreds of years after the adventures of Jin Sakai, but it doesn’t try to reinvent the already rock solid foundations left by its predecessor.
It’s what you’d call an iterative sequel, building and expanding upon existing systems and mechanics — although as mentioned plenty of times by developer Sucker Punch leading up to launch, Yotei does strive to be much more open.
In terms of player freedom, it’s definitely a cut above what Tsushima offers, and that’s partly why the game’s received such positive reviews.
Our own Ghost of Yotei PS5 review concludes: “Building on its predecessor in all the right ways, Ghost of Yotei is an incredible sequel that makes you the ruler of your experience.”
It continues: “With improved combat, a better story, and outstanding use of PS5 features, Sucker Punch has outdone itself and created a follow-up for the ages. Ghost of Yotei is comfortably its greatest work to date.” A well deserved 9/10.
We also produced a big 100% Ghost of Yotei guide, if you need any help with the game.
