Yesterday during its big launch event Google unveiled the Pixel Watch 4 alongside the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
The watch is powered by Qualcomm’s newly announced Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 chipset, and one of the perks of this chip is its support for Narrowband Non-Terrestrial Network, aka satellite connectivity.
So the Pixel Watch 4 should let you send and receive messages without a mobile carrier connection, provided you have some sort of plan that includes that.
Its bigger battery provides an advertised 30 hours of use on the 41mm version and 40 hours on the 45mm iteration and that should also come in handy when you’re trying to use satellites to communicate.
We are of course expecting to see other Wear OS devices using Qualcomm’s new chipset and its satellite communication support in the future, but for now, this is the only one.
