Black Ops 7’s campaign finale will allegedly be a 32-player multiplayer extraction mission for the first time in the franchise’s history.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set in 2035 and follows David Mason’s team through Japan and the fictional city of Avalon. The campaign continues the story after Black Ops II, mixing tense espionage with high-tech warfare.
Multiplayer leans colorful and nostalgic, with remasters of Black Ops 2’s Raid, Express, and Hijacked. Specialist abilities return, Pick 10 is gone, and “omnimovement” stays grounded.

Black Ops 7’s final mission won’t be single player
An anonymous source told Insider Gaming that Black Ops 7’s final campaign mission will be nothing like the rest of the story. Instead of a cinematic solo conclusion, it will drop players into a 32-player multiplayer extraction mission set on the Avalon map.
ActivisionAccording to them, Avalon, long rumored as a Battle Royale location, will now double as the 12th and final mission. Some campaign areas in Avalon will appear earlier in up to 4-player co-op, but the fully playable map is saved for the finale.
The mission is said to resemble an extraction shooter. Players must complete objectives, survive enemy teams, and successfully extract. If your squad is wiped, all your progress is gone. Sources described it as “hardcore” and compared it to the toughest extraction modes on the market.
This finale will also be part of Black Ops 7’s full progression integration across campaign, multiplayer, and zombies. No matter what you play, you’ll keep leveling your weapons, characters, and even the Battle Pass.
If the report ends up being true, Black Ops 7 would mark the first time in the series that a campaign finale has been integrated into multiplayer. For years, Black Ops has kept its single-player and multiplayer worlds separate. This design could change that dynamic completely.
If done right, the move could give players a shared sense of conclusion and raise the stakes for campaign finales. We’ll see if it works when Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches later in 2025 on all major platforms.
